INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Reformed University is dedicated to equipping international students to think biblically, live faithfully, and lead wisely for a lifetime.

Becoming an international student at Reformed University takes place in three steps:

Step 1: The Admissions Process

In addition to all regular application procedures for admission to Reformed University , special procedures apply for international students.

English Proficiency

Applicants whose native language is not English must submit official scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) to the Admissions Office. The following minimum score requirement for the TOEFL apply:

TOEFL Preparation

Reformed University ESOL helps students to obtain the required iBT score.   It has five 9-week terms each year.  Both F-1 and F-2 students are welcome to attend.

Health Insurance

Health insurance is required for all international students and their dependents for the duration of their studies at Reformed University . Health insurance and medical care in the U.S. is expensive. While the University offers an insurance plan, students may be able to find a more affordable plan elsewhere.

Items required as part of the admissions process:

  $50 nonrefundable application processing fee drawn from a U.S. bank or an international money order payable in U.S. dollars.

  An application form completed in full for the program for which you seek admission.

For Undergraduate Programs:

  • A High School diploma or equivalency at the time of the awarding of the degree is required.
  • Official transcripts sealed and mailed directly to Reformed University.
  • A certified copy of his/her high school diploma or GED Certificate.
  • Three letters of recommendation from your home church's ordained minister or an ordained minister, a teacher or a college professor, and one other non-family person.

For Master's Degree Program:

  • Students should have their Bachelor's Degree or equivalency prior to awarding of the master's degree.
  • Official transcripts sealed and mailed directly to Reformed University of all college, university, or University records, showing all courses pursued, grades received, and degree(s) earned.
  • A certified copy of his/her bachelor's degree with a minimum grade point average of 2.50 on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent from an accredited college or university.
  • Three letters of recommendation from your home church's ordained minister or an ordained minister, a teacher or a college professor, and one other non-family person.
  • An essay (two-page long) stating why you would like to pursue a University education.

For Th.M. (Master of Theology) Program:

  • Students should build up Master of Divinity or other equivalent master degree prior to awarding of Th.M. degree.
  • Official transcripts sealed and mailed directly to Reformed University of all college, university, or University records, showing all courses pursued, grades received, and degree(s) earned.
  • A certified copy of his/her bachelor's degree with a minimum grade point average of 2.50 on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent from an accredited college or university.
  • Three letters of recommendation from your home church's ordained minister or an ordained minister, a teacher or a college professor, and one other non-family person.
  • An essay (two-page long) stating why you would like to pursue a University education.

For the Doctorate Degree Program:

  • Students must have their Master's Degree prior to awarding of the Doctorate degree.
  • Official transcripts sealed and mailed directly to Reformed University of all college, university, or University records, showing all courses pursued, grades received, and degree(s) earned.
  • A certified copy of his/her bachelor's degree with a minimum grade point average of 2.50 on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent from an accredited college or university.
  • Three letters of recommendation from your home church's ordained minister or an ordained minister, a teacher or a college professor, and one other non-family person.
  • An essay (two-page long) stating why you would like to pursue a University education.

OPT

Reformed University does not offer international students the option to complete Optional Practical Training upon degree completion. Inquire with an admissions counselor as to the best steps to take in planning for your particular degree program.

Step 2: Receiving your I-20 and Obtaining your Visa

Cost of Education

* No student will be allowed to register for a new semester and no transcripts or final grades will be released unless all unpaid bills to the University have been paid in full.
* Any fee and tuition listed in this catalog is subject to change at the discretion of the Board of Trustees of Reformed University. The fees may be changed without prior notifications, although as much advanced notice as possible shall be given and published.

The Visa/I-20 Guide

The Reformed University is currently seeking USCIS authorization to issue SEVIS I-20. Any international student who is under F-1 Visa category from other institutions may attend and enroll in Reformed University course works; however, the credits will not be recognized by any other institutions or USCIS for visa purposes.

Step 3: Making the Transition to Campus

The third step, once you have been accepted into our University program and obtained your I-20 and visa, is to make the transition to Reformed University .

The Dean of Students Office

The Director of Student Affairs office at Reformed University serves current and prospective students by providing resources and an environment of support in which they can experience meaningful community in order to successfully complete their degree program. Office hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
